Digital World 2012
The Digital World 2012 builds upon the concept of e-Asia 2011. Digital World 2012 will be focusing on using and leveraging ICTs and modern technology to boost up the economy. The summit will define a roadmap for e-transformation in Bangladesh through the effective integration of technology in public and private sector life; and it will lay out a proactive agenda to strengthen & showcase national ICT sector competitiveness. With this conference, Bangladesh will project its ICT innovation and potential to the world and will know about other nation’s ICT idea. Ultimately the event will build the network and business connection.
Bangladesh has seen dramatic changes in last few years. ICT is declared as the “Thrust sector” of the country to materialize the concept of “Digital Bangladesh” which is the vision articulated by the present government. “Digital Bangladesh” is a blend of ICT & modern technology along with political goals as a pro-poor tool to eradicate poverty, establish good governance, ensure social equity through quality education, healthcare and law enforcement for all, and prepare the country for climate change. Accordingly, government is ensuring widespread use of ICT tools & mechanism to further modify the livelihood of the citizens, scope of services, standard of living & so on.
An annual practice and knowledge Conference “Digital World 2012? (DW2012) proposed to showcase Bangladesh’s achievements to further learn from its global peers and to provide a forum for free-flow of ideas and concepts enriching current thoughts on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for development. Digital World 2012, with the inaugural years’ Conference focus on using and leveraging ICTs and modern technology to boost up the economy & it is proposed to be an annual event with the objective of reinforcing technology and knowledge-centric growth and needs of Bangladesh vis-a-vis the world of technology to mainstream ICTs.
Digital World 2012 took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh on December 6-8, 2012. The event inaugurated by Sheikh Hasina, Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC). The conference wasl consist of: A full-fledged exhibition, Thematic Conference, B2B matchmaking, National level contest for Student and young minds, Focused workshops, Agenda wise Seminars, Meet the Technology Leaders, Debates, Awards etc.
The speakers and attendees include policy-makers, senior government officials, industry leaders, international development agencies, civil society, academia, and investors. And the exhibition will provide excellent opportunity for showcasing projects, programs and initiatives of government and private sector agencies/corporations, as also for demonstrating innovative ICT products, solutions and applications for various domains covered under the scope of the event. The conference as a whole will provide a unique opportunity for national and global stakeholders to come together and exchange ideas and solutions focused on the key element of all technological advancement: the citizen. It will gather together industry stakeholders from Bangladesh Government, the Bangladeshi and international business community, multinational companies, and academia to discuss international and national trends and challenges faced by ICT industry.
